Who We Are
We are the leaders in building regulation and innovation in Ontario. OLMCBO (Ontario Large Municipalities Chief Building Officials) is a team of building code professionals who advocate for safer communities.
OLMCBO oversees 80% of Ontario’s construction and economic activity, blanketing over 45 municipalities province wide.
OLMCBO members prioritize the health and safety of the public by administering and ensuring compliance of the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code.
What We Do
One thing is paramount for our friends and neighbours in all municipalities: their safety and security. By maintaining the highest building code standards, OLMCBO prioritizes the well-being of everyone.
This process ensures communities thrive through growth and development. OLMCBO upholds the standards for building and construction practices by reviewing permits, code interpretation, policy development, permit issuance and building inspections. It’s our duty to ensure developers, designers and contractors follow the Ontario Building Code.
Our officials ensure buildings (commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential) comply with applicable regulations and standards. OLMCBO partners with government agencies, ministries and stakeholders to work towards developing consistencies across Ontario.
Who We Serve
OLMCBO represents over half of all Ontarians, advocating for health and safety in building construction. 52% of Ontario’s population falls under OLMCBO’s jurisdiction, with building officials governing large municipalities with populations over 50,000.
If you live in one of Ontario’s large municipalities, from Ottawa, to Sudbury to Windsor, OLMCBO has played an integral role in the health and safety of buildings where you live, work and play.
Our Vision
OLMCBO aims to be recognized as the leader in building regulation, innovation, and professionalism for Ontario.
Our Mission
OLMCBO promotes regulatory compliance and safety in building construction through legislation, building code leadership and expertise.
